Luckiest Turkey in Britain?

One lucky turkey has survived

Christmas - thanks to local pop

star, Richard Ashcroft.

Former lead singer of “The

Verve”, Richard is known for

singing Britpop classics

including “Lucky Man” & “Bitter

Sweet Symphony and Sonnet”.

Just before Christmas, he

ordered a 16lb turkey from

Wallers for his 9-year-old son.

Nothing unusual there . . . .

except that the youngster

wanted to keep it alive as a pet!

He wanted to make sure that he

saved a bird from slaughter over

the festive season.

"My son has recently turned

vegetarian and he said that he

wanted a turkey for Christmas",

said Richard, who lives locally. I

buy quite a lot of meat and Wallers’

locally-produced is the finest."

His son has now named it "Lucky".

time of year for a customer to take

the turkey home alive but we were

happy to oblige and donated it to

Rosie's charity."
